Free Amazon Title Checker

Since July 27, 2026, Amazon titles must fit in 75 characters, and Amazon's AI is rewriting the ones that don't. Paste a title, or up to 500, to see which break the rules and what a compliant split looks like.

THE RULE

Amazon's 75-character title rule, in plain terms

On July 27, 2026 Amazon capped product titles at 75 characters including spacesin every category except media. The old 200-character titles packed with keywords now break the rule, and they are the titles Amazon's AI is rewriting.

The rewrite is not a truncation. Amazon builds a new title from your listing attributes, backend search terms and ranking signals. It rolls out gradually and applies to existing listings, not just new ones. Brand Registry owners get a review window in Review Listing Changes. Everyone else gets the rewrite applied to their listing.

Amazon added a companion field, Item Highlights (125 characters, indexed for search), for the details that no longer fit. Highlights only display when the title itself is within the limit.

How to rewrite a title to 75 characters

  1. Lead with brand and product type. “Acme Insulated Water Bottle” tells the shopper and the algorithm what it is before anything else.
  2. Keep the one attribute shoppers filter by. Size, quantity, compatibility or material, whichever decides the click. “32 oz” earns its place; “premium quality” does not.
  3. Move everything else to Item Highlights. Use cases, secondary features and materials stay searchable there without breaking the title rule.
  4. Keep the dropped keywords in backend search terms. Words you cut from the title can still be indexed through the 249-byte backend field.
  5. Check Review Listing Changes weekly. If you are in Brand Registry, that is where Amazon's proposed rewrites appear before they go live.

Checking one listing is quick. Checking a catalog of hundreds is where SellerForge's listing tools help: the Listing Audit flags every non-compliant ASIN from your live catalog and the Listing Builder drafts compliant titles and Item Highlights for your approval.

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Since July 27, 2026, Amazon product titles must be 75 characters or fewer, including spaces, in every category except media. Books, Music, Video and DVD keep the older 200-character limit. Amazon also added a separate Item Highlights field of up to 125 characters for the details that no longer fit in the title.
Listings stay active, but Amazon is gradually replacing over-length titles with AI-generated versions built from your listing data, backend search terms and ranking signals. Brand Registry owners can review the proposed rewrites in Review Listing Changes; sellers without Brand Registry have them applied directly. Rewriting the title yourself is the only way to control what shoppers see.
Amazon prohibits ! $ ? _ { } ^ ¬ and ¦ in product titles unless the character is part of the brand name. Characters such as ~ # < > and * are only allowed in specific contexts, like a model number (“Style #131”) or a measurement (“>3 lb”).
No more than twice. Articles, prepositions and conjunctions (a, the, and, for, with and so on) are exempt. The checker ignores numbers and your brand name when it counts repeats.
Item Highlights is a 125-character attribute that Amazon introduced alongside the 75-character title cap. It shows with the title in search results and on the detail page, and Amazon indexes it for search, so it is the right home for materials, use cases and key specs that used to pad the title.
No. The checker runs entirely in your browser. Titles you paste are never sent to SellerForge or stored anywhere.
No. It cuts the title at the last whole word that fits and moves the rest into Item Highlights, which shows you what Amazon would keep. A good 75-character title leads with the brand, the product type and the attribute shoppers filter by. SellerForge’s Listing Builder drafts full rewrites from your live listing data for you to review.
