How the checker measures your image

  • Background:it reads the four corners. Exactly RGB 255, 255, 255 passes; near-white such as 250, 250, 250 is flagged, because it isn't the pure white Amazon asks for.
  • Fill:it finds the product's outline against the white background and measures how much of the frame it spans on its longer side, then draws that box on your image so you can see what it measured.
  • Size and format:it reads the file's real pixel dimensions and type, not a resized copy.

How to fix a failing main image

  1. Make the background pure white. Fill the background layer with #FFFFFF, or remove the background and place the product on pure white.
  2. Crop to the product. Leave a thin margin so the product spans at least 85% of the frame on its longer side.
  3. Export a large JPEG. 1,600px or more on the longest side gives shoppers full zoom; stay under 10,000px.
  4. Move everything else to other images.Text callouts, lifestyle scenes and what's-in-the-box shots belong in the secondary images, not the main one.

No. The pure white background rule is for the MAIN image. Your other images can show the product in use, in a setting or with dimensions, as long as they follow Amazon’s other image rules.
Lightboxes, phone cameras and some exports produce near-white instead of pure white, for example RGB 250, 250, 250. It looks white on screen but isn’t RGB 255, 255, 255. Set the background to exactly #FFFFFF in your editor, or ask your photographer for a pure white clipping.
